This post is all about getting to know the archangel Sandalphon.
The archangels are powerful and majestic spiritual beings. They are the managers of the angelic realm and are responsible for passing on messages to us from God, defending us from evil, and, in general, helping humanity. Each archangel has certain powers and areas that they specialize in.
Between all their other responsibilities, the archangels are ready and willing to assist us along our spiritual journey and life’s path. As such, they are available to call upon for help when there are problems in life we don’t know how to deal with. The archangels are not only capable of helping us with problems – it brings them great joy to do so.
Since each archangel has unique powers, responsibilities, and areas of focus, it helps to call on the right archangel for the problem you are experiencing to get the best results.
But to do that, you need to get to know them. Today we begin with the Archangel Sandalphon.
The Archangel Sandalphon
Tall, powerful, creative, compassionate, and often seen surrounded by birds. The archangel Sandalphon is artistic, calm, grounded, and beautiful. He is quite an amazing angel. He is one of the first and most powerful archangels. Yet he is kind, calm, and deeply cares for humanity and its struggles.
A Special Angel that Used to Be Human
Did you know that all but two of the archangel’s names end in –el?
The suffix -el means of God, which just makes sense being the archangels are, in fact, the messengers of God, creations of God, and deliverers of the gifts of love and service to us that are of God.
But the Archangel Sandalphon is one of the two exceptions to this naming rule – both of whom have names that end in –on.
And this compassionate archangel wants you to know that, although his name is different, it does not mean he cares or loves you any less than any archangel. Perhaps, the reason his name is different helps him to care and love you even more.
You see, Archangel Sandalphon and Archangel Metatron (the two archangels with differing names from the others) are believed to have been human prophets of God during their lives here on the earth (Elijah and Enoch, respectively) before ascending into Heaven and becoming members of the angelic realm as a reward for their piousness and service.
As a matter of fact, Sandalphon is believed to mean co-brother and is considered the angelic twin brother to Metatron. They are at opposite ends of the Tree of Life, Metatron at the top and Sandalphon at the bottom. Together they create balance and represent duality; coming and going, giving and receiving, masculine and feminine.
But do not be mistaken. Just because they were once human does not make them any less powerful within the angelic realm. As a matter of fact, these two archangels are known to be the most powerful and close to God.
Their perspective also gives them a larger window into the experience of lives of human beings – making them uniquely qualified to help with any problem you may have.
As a human, the archangel Sandalphon was known as Elija. Elija was a prophet who, in life, wholeheartedly served Jesus. It said that at the end of his life, Elija ascended into heaven by a fiery chariot, where he was then transformed into the archangel Sandalphon.
Sandalphon now watches over the earth and fights forces of evil and negativity alongside the Archangel Michael while also playing a big role in the music of heaven. Needless to say, this archangel is mighty and powerful. Yet he is calm, grounded, kind, compassionate, and extremely gentle.
Let’s get to know him a little better.
Meet the Archangel Sandalphon
Imagine, if you will, the presence of pure light and love before you.
This presence begins to move toward you, and as it does, it slowly takes form and manifests into a physical shape. As it does, you are filled with intense, energetic sensations of gentleness, patience, love, and power.
This energy instantly fills you with a sense of calm and peace, security and safety.
You realize that nothing coming from this presence will be hidden from you nor harm you in any possible way. As a matter of fact, you are feeling more loved, accepted, and appreciated than you have ever thought was even possible.
You realize you are in the presence of great power, yet it is gentle, calming, and feels very stable.
In combination with the gentle, loving nature of the energy that emanates from this presence, you feel a strong and intense connection to the divine. No longer does heaven seem like something separate from you. You can now feel it within you, a part of you – you know without a doubt that all of creation is connected and all is part of the divine.
Bathed in this pure energy, you feel consumed by a desire to sing praises of love and worship to our Creator for the amazing life you have been given here on earth and for what awaits you in the afterlife.
The loving and gentle presence now manifests into a complete human-like physical form. You may see a man carrying a staff, a wizard, a princess dressed in beautiful crystal blue colors, a man shrouded in the clothes of Jesus’ time, a tall angelic being, or many other possible forms.
You let the form take whatever shape as it fills every cell and molecule in your body with a sense of love, joy, calmness, focus, strength, empowerment, and deep compassion.
You have just met the Archangel Sandalphon.
The Role of Archangel Sandalphon
The word that comes to my mind when describing the archangel Sandalphon is “dreamy.” Like the boy in high school who was not only amazingly gorgeous but was also the biggest sweetheart, the guy you swear was perfect and who would make all the girls weak at the knees when he passed by.
I am not talking about the average popular guy. No, this is the guy who was smart, popular, and exceptional in every way. He never engaged in fights but rather always had a way of putting those around him at ease. Everyone just likes him. He crosses the boundaries of every clique and befriends everyone he meets.
This is the imagery I have for the Archangel Sandalphon, which may differ for you. I feel a protective, big brother energy radiating from this angel, but many sources compare his presence to that of a patient, loving father.
Overall, he has an energy of gentle, loving authority. A teacher, a parent, and a counselor all rolled into one outstanding presence. He makes us feel relaxed, calm, grounded, and focused so that we can face problems head-on and come up with practical solutions rather than getting caught up in overwhelming and intense emotions. He makes it feel easy and safe to let go and deeply connect to our spiritual nature.
He gives us the courage to take responsibility for ourselves and our actions and create necessary change in ourselves in order to follow our life’s path and grow spiritually according to our divine purpose.
The Archangel Sandalphon cares very deeply for the well-being of all of God’s children and the planet earth and its inhabitants.
It is thought that his being human before ascending into the angelic realm was the reason God put him in charge of the well-being of the planet Earth and all who reside upon it. It is his compassion and deep empathy that puts him in a unique position to take care of the earth. As he cares so deeply – not just for the planet but also for us.
He receives and delivers our prayers, ensuring they reach and are heard by God.
And not only does he deliver our payers, but he also provides guidance about how to pray. He guides our words, phrases, and the tone of our prayers, affirmations, and intentions.
He is also thought to be the archangel who helps determine the gender of babies prior to their birth.
In Heaven, Archangel Sandalphon directs the music of Heaven. As such, he is the angel to call upon for anything involving music or the performing arts, including playing an instrument, singing, and acting.
When you experience a song that pops into your head or plays on the radio that specifically answers a question or carries a message – or any other divine message involving songs or music – you can be sure archangel Sandalphon is with you.
With his roles in Heaven and here on earth, the Archangel Sandalphon provides a link between earth and the divine realms – both directly and within us. In an encounter with Archangel Sandalphon, Moses described him as very tall. He is tall enough to reach Heaven from the earth. It is said that it would take 500 years to walk from his feet to his head. So he can hear our prayers and deliver them to God simply by reaching up to Heaven.
He links the divine and the material within our mind, body, and soul, helping us feel a strong and powerful connection to spirit within us. He may present himself to you as being much smaller in stature, as he will be sure not to cause you any undue fear or stress, but you can be sure if he does tower over you, it is because of his ability to connect your earthly presence to Heaven in many ways.
Archangel Sandalphon is a sensitive, artistic type. He loves music, is very creative, and is even a bit of a romantic. He cares deeply for those who suffer and finds joy in being asked to help ease your suffering, pain, or intense hardships. He is said to take the prayers of the suffering and weave them into a wreath and place them on the head of God.
He is laid back. With the kind of energy that keeps a cool head in a crisis, things just don’t get to him. He will help you feel calm, grounded, and relaxed so that you can solve problems rationally and effectively.
When to call upon Archangel Sandalphon:
Calling on any archangel should not be taken lightly. It is a powerful way to assist you in life and help solve or manage struggles and problems. It is often suggested that you only call on an archangel for significant life-changing problems and events. Call on the angels and your guardian angels for guidance and help with the more minor, everyday aspects of life, as you will get much better results.
With that said, here are times to consider calling on the archangel Sandalphon.
~ To help anytime you are suffering, experience a tragedy, trauma, or crisis, or when life feels very much unfair or against you. As Sandalphon says, call on him “when your world is falling apart, and you are in despair.”
~ He is also the angel to call on when you feel like your prayers have not been heard or answered. He will ensure your prayers and positive intentions are taken directly to God.
~ Archangel Sandalphon is the angel to call on when you need help staying calm and grounded and coming up with practical solutions to problems, including:
- To live with integrity
- To stay calm, grounded, and not get overly emotional
- To overcome exhaustion
- To help you gain perspective
- To stay present in the moment
~ Call on him to help anytime there is suffering and extreme hardship. Including:
- Your own suffering and hardships
- To help and hear those you love or care deeply for who are suffering
- To heal and end the suffering of people, animals, or the planet.
~ Archangel Sandalphon will help you feel more connected to the divine and your spiritual purpose. Call on him anytime you want to develop your spiritual connection and gifts, including:
- To develop your spiritual gifts of prophecy, healing & manifestation
- To discover and fully develop your hidden talents, skills, and spiritual gifts
- To strengthen your connection and relationship with the divine
- To stay grounded and protected while doing deep spiritual work
- To teach you how to pray, set intentions, and use affirmations effectively
~ Call on archangel Sandalphon for protection from dark, negative, and low-vibrating forces
~ To take your problems, struggles, pain, blocks, or anything else into heaven to be transmuted. Sandalphon will return it to you with only the positive aspects that serve your highest good.
~ To assist you in being gentle and kind, yet powerful, in all situations.
~ To assist in any musical endeavors
~ Call on Sandalphon for anything that feels deeply important to you. If you feel it deeply and it matters to you, this angel also cares and is willing to help.
Tips to Help Connect with Archangel Sandalphon
The following tips for connecting with the Archangel Sandalphon are what I have learned by connecting and communicating with him. When calling on him, try using these tips to help you connect, sense, and communicate with him clearly. You do not have to do any of this perfectly but give it your best effort. If you can’t feel these, just think about them and what they are like.
The archangel Sandalphon is a very gentle, calm, and grounded angel. To connect with him, focus on feeling these same assets. This is a very “chill” angel whose joy comes from calm love and peace. Let go of stress and worry and put your full attention on him, and simply connecting with him – letting everything else go.
Be as calm and restful, and relaxed as you can get. Doing a mindfulness meditation prior to calling on him may be very helpful.
Feelings of anxiety, worry, stress, fear, and negativity of any kind will keep you from fully sensing the presence of this sensitive and compassionate angel, as it will throw your vibrational frequency off. He will still hear you, but you will not sense him as fully as when you are in a calm, relaxed, and trusting state of mind.
You also want to try to stay grounded and centered and maintain a strong connection to your intention and purpose. Being distracted, wish-washy, or in any way disinterested in what you are doing will make it very unlikely this angel will respond to your requests.
To connect with the archangel Sandalphon, focus on self-love and acceptance. Fully love and accept yourself for exactly who you are. Once you feel this, project it onto your thoughts of the archangel. This creates a shared love for both you and the angel – meaning the same love you give to yourself, you are giving to the angel and vice versa. This complete calm, love, and acceptance is the energy that brings archangel Sandalphon through strongly and clearly.
To enhance your connection, be sure to play music, and don’t be afraid to sing, dance, or sway along to the music. Ensure the music is happy and calm and reminds you of deep inner peace and acceptance or, in some way, is about putting an end to suffering.
