New Year: A Time for Change? Making New Year Resolutions Work With the Law of Attraction.
Each coming New Year brings with it the opportunity for healing and change. The chance for new beginnings and fresh starts. We can resolve to make changes, to begin new projects, to end bad behaviors and in general commit to improving ourselves and doing what it takes to become the person we desire to be over the next year. But as wonderful as all that sounds, it isn’t necessarily that easy to do. Here is what you can do to make your New Year resolutions work using the Law of Attraction.
Short-lived New Year resolutions
If you are like most people, as the New Year approaches you
The end of the current year and all the struggles it holds are over and new opportunities await you on the other side.
So, you get caught up in the idea and decide you are going to make changes in yourself. You resolve to set yourself on the path of self-improvement and good fortune. You come up with your New Year resolutions and feel full of determination and passion to achieve them.
Yet, year after year, these wonderful and awe-inspiring resolutions are quickly forgotten.
We settle back into our usual patterns. The New Year turns into this year and the determination to carry through on those resolutions fades away until the year is nearly over. When the thought, “Next year will be better” once again emerges.
It doesn’t have to work this way. The New Year is an optimal time for new beginnings and fresh starts. You can make the most of this New Year and avoid falling back into your old patterns with just a few adjustments in how you go about it.
Let’s make this New Year be the year for real change, good luck, health, success,
Don’t Give Up On Resolutions
As you create and plan for your resolutions make sure it is something you really want and care deeply about. And as the New Year begins you’ll want to remind yourself to not lose sight of the passion and hope and comes with the New Year.
A significant reason New Year resolutions tend to be forgotten and get left in the dust is because we attempt to use willpower to force the change we desire. It is not that the desire, resolve, determination or commitment subsides. It is because willpower is exhausting and rarely ever works to create change.
Willpower is part of the physical world. It takes constant commitment and thought to power through the changes we are attempting to make. This constant fight to create change becomes difficult and tiring.
So, it becomes easier and much more satisfying to just let those resolutions fade into the background rather than continue with a constant struggle to turn them into a reality.
For real change to occur, we need to go beyond the physical. Attain access to the spiritual and subconscious aspects of ourselves. Then the change we desire becomes effortless and natural.
Those New Year resolutions created each year are true desires from the heart and soul to achieve your dreams, to be healthy and to be the best person you can be.
In fact, those resolutions to be the best person you can come from the spirit. From your higher-self, angels, and spirit guides guiding you along your path of love, light, and purpose.
The best way to accomplish your purpose is by being healthy, happy and, of course, through spiritual self-growth. And that is exactly what New Year resolutions are all about.
So, don’t give up on the idea of New Year resolutions. Here is a few reason why this is the perfect time to create and plan for your dreams and self-growth.
Why New Year’s a powerful time for change
As the New Year begins it is an optimal time to create those resolutions and figure out what you want and where you want your life to go in the next year. There are many factors that contribute to a shift in energy and create a healing environment perfect for change.
Energy in the Masses
As the new year approaches, there are millions of people around you all preparing and hoping for change and good fortune in the year to come. So, this really is an optimal time to ride that wave of energy. Use it to motivate you and feel the hope that surrounds you.
Even if for no other reason, the beliefs and thoughts of the collective create an energy of change and new beginnings. An opportunity that is almost foolish to let pass right by you.
As the quote below by Hamilton Wright Mabie indicates, there isn’t necessarily anything different about the night of New Year’s eve than any other day. Except for the millions of people who perceive it to be something quite special. Resulting in the creation of an energy you can use to propel toward what you want in life.
“New Year’s Eve is like every other night; there is no pause in the march of the universe, no breathless moment of silence among created things that the passage of another twelve months may be noted; and yet no man has quite the same thoughts this evening that come with the coming of darkness on other nights.”
It is the thoughts and belief of the masses of people around you coming together and uniting in that energy that brings power to the New Year.
Your Own Perception
Just as the beliefs and thoughts of the masses bring energy to the New Year, so do your own beliefs and perceptions.
Many of us
Even if you doubt the power of the New Year and consider it to be just
No matter how you look at it, your perception – be it doubts or beliefs – give energy and power to the New Year.
Universal and cosmic shifts
No matter where in the world you are or when you recognize the beginning of each new year, there are cosmic shifts that occur to create changes and new beginnings. These cosmic events have a powerful effect on the physical world and on those of us living here.
So now is a perfect time to go with the flow of the Universe and create your own endings and beginnings with intention – backed by the power of the cosmos.
Power in numbers.
Just as there are many cosmic changes going on as the New Year begins there is also a shift in the numerological energy of the year. This occurs on many levels, including the number of the year itself and on a personal level based on your birthday.
No matter what number the year adds up to, we always begin on January 1 or 1/1. If you are familiar with numerology or angel numbers – you know how much power there is in the energy of the numbers influencing us.
With a strong one energy, the new year always start off with the energy of new beginnings, fresh starts, and positive thinking. This energy gives you an advantage
Most New Year Resolutions are Doomed to Fail
Now you know why New Years is a wonderful time to begin creating change in your life. You know your resolutions are coming from the right place. Yet,
One definition of resolution is a firm decision to do or not do something. These decisions usually require the use of willpower to do or not do it consistently. As I mentioned earlier, will-power is difficult to maintain and a very tiring, inconsistent way to create change.
Also, most resolutions are based on what you don’t like about your life or what you want to change.
Resolutions such as, “This year I’ll quit smoking,” “This year I’ll lose weight,” or “This year I’ll get out of debt,” are all examples of resolutions that focus on what you don’t want.
If you are familiar with the Law of Attraction you know that you attract to yourself what you are focused on. If your resolution is what you don’t want you are going to end up attracting more of the very thing you are trying to change.
So, we end up starting out great with the intention to improve ourselves. Full of hope and inspiration to create success and happiness in the coming year. Yet we end up sabotaging those goals because our focus, thoughts and emotions are on the wrong things.
So, what do we need to do differently?
New Year Resolutions and the Law of Attraction
“We spend January 1st walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched. Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives… not looking for flaws, but for potential.” – Ellen Goodman
Rather than looking for what is wrong in your life or what you need to change, focus instead on what you desire.
When looking ahead at the New Year, don’t focus on what you need to fix, change or accomplish differently. Rather, set your sights on what you want to feel. Then focus on that feeling as much as possible. Take at least a few minutes every day to practice having that feeling.
For example, if your resolution is based on being healthy, think about what it will feel like to be at a peak level of health. Perhaps energized, happy, confident? If your resolution is based on financial success what will you feel when you have that success? Secure, free, elated?
Once you have identified the feeling all you need to do is focus on that feeling. You may not know what it feels like to have your goal accomplished, but you do know what it feels like to be happy, confident secure etc. Think about other times you have had similar feelings.
Do everything you can to create that feeling in your life every day. Practice affirmations, use brain hacks, meditation, self-talk and similar techniques to create good feelings. Visualize your goal and accomplishments often and do what it takes to experience that feeling as much as possible.
Feelings are the most powerful way to manifest what you desire. If you feel secure, happy, confident and grateful the Universe will provide more things in your life to make you feel exactly that; secure, happy, and confident.
Set yourself up for success
Now that you identified what you want (rather than what you don’t want) and the associated feelings, you’re ready to set yourself up for success in the New Year. So, here are some steps you can take to be in the best place possible and head into the realm of potential, possibilities,
The energy will wear off
Remember the energy of the masses I mentioned before? That energy is going to wear off rather quickly.
Most of the people around you are going to continue with the same pattern of having hope and passion for their resolutions as the year is new. But as the months go on this energy wears away as people give up, forget and fall back into their old patterns. For most people, statistically about 80 percent of us, this happens by the time February begins.
In order to accomplish your goals, it is imperative that you release any negativity.
You can do this at any time, but it works best if you start releasing any negativity before the New Year begins.
Start by taking some time to reflect and meditate on the past. Look at all the things you have done and attempted to accomplish.
Release any negativity, blocks or experiences that no longer have any purpose. Let go of those things that only serve to keep you down and hold you back.
You don’t need these thoughts, experiences, and beliefs so let them go. Close your eyes, take a deep breath and say, “I am willing to release that which no longer serves me.” Take another deep breath and visualize the negativity being released with your out breath.
Create Building Blocks
There is no such thing as failure. You can learn and create building blocks for success from any experience you have.
As you reflect on the past, take the lessons and experiences from the goals that didn’t work out to assist you in the future. Look back on what didn’t work and use that information to build on new things you will try this year.
Celebrate Your Accomplishments
Don’t even consider attempting any considerable new goals until you have taken the time to celebrate what you have already accomplished.
The New Year holiday is about celebrating the changing of years, but you can also use this time to celebrate everything you accomplished during the past year. Raise a toast to you, give yourself a pat on the back and congratulate yourself for a job well done. You deserve it.
Focus on the positive
The year begins on 1/1. So it has a very strong 1 energy. If you stay focused and positive you will set yourself up for manifesting what you desire the rest of the year.
If you find yourself doubting, having negative thoughts or feeling badly use a clearing technique. You can do this by identifying the thought or feeling and visualize the word or phrase in front of you. Then say delete, delete, delete as you see the letters disappearing (like they do on a computer screen). Be sure to follow up with some positive affirmations, self-care and activities that create good feelings.
You’re not alone
Last, but not least, remember you are never alone along this or any journey. Ask your angels and guides to assist you whenever you need them.

Here’s to Manifesting all your desires this year.
If you have continued to read up to this point, you now have the tools to make your New Years
Traditional resolutions are doomed to fail and willpower is an unnecessary struggle and fight of determination. But it doesn’t need to be that way. With a little faith and belief in yourself, you can use these skills and the Law of Attraction to manifest your desires and co-create your life.
This coming year will be full of the good fortune and the success you desire. And deserve! <3
Happy New Year!
